From The Principal

While maintaining health guidelines, we have been able to continue conducting weekly Assemblies/ Secondary Chapel (with modifications), as well as the Secondary Colour Run, which raised $10,856 for Headspace, the focus selected by the Year 12 students who were very supportive of this excellent event. Various Primary Incursions are proceeding during this fortnight, as will the Secondary “RU OK? Day”. This initiative is typical of our School Community, not being deterred by COVID-19 but finding safe ways to still support such wonderful activities – well done RJ students and staff.

LEADERSHIP

As we come to the end of our third term, we would like to wish all of our Year 12 students a safe and happy holiday as we informally say goodbye to them next week. We look forward to farewelling them in style next term after their HSC Exams are completed. However, we do want to thank them for all their contributions to RJ over the last twelve months and congratulate them on completing their thirteen years of formal schooling. We also thank Andrew, Ria, Tark and Hayley and their team of student leaders for their outstanding leadership of our School community. We will be praying for you all as you prepare over the break for your final HSC examinations in Term 4. Our next group of Year 12 Leaders will be announced next week at our Stage 6 Assembly.

Primary Matters

From The Head Of Primary - Oakhurst

We are into our final fortnight of Term 3 and the Oakhurst Primary students have been enjoying the warmer weather. Students can be in Summer or Winter Uniform until the end of term, then return to Term 4 in Summer Uniform. Jackets are required as the mornings are still a little chilly.

ASSEMBLY

Students in KM and 5/6M have presented outstanding Assembly Items in Weeks 6 and 7. Hopefully parents have been able to view them through Seesaw. KM taught us how important it is to always obey God’s instructions and 5/6M very ably explained why God needs to punish sin as it is obedience against Him. 5/6M students also delighted us with a great dance. Students are recalling our memory verse from Joshua 1:9 with strong confidence, imprinting God’s word on their hearts. “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” 2M will present in this week’s Assembly with 1P rounding out the term. Parents are not able to attend Assemblies in Term 3.

Secondary Segments

From The Head Of Secondary

Year 12 have now finished their practical projects and performances, and have received feedback from their teachers regarding their Trial HSC examinations. Final Reports will be printed and distributed next week. Whilst the Graduation ceremonies have been postponed until next term, there will still be a great sense of “completion” when Friday 25 September comes around. There is excitement about what lies ahead and some students have already received offers to study at university or offers of apprenticeships and employment. My challenge for all Year 12 is to remember what has gone before and not forget the values and the message that RJ has shared over the years. Staff will be praying individually and corporately for each student. May God bless you richly with a knowledge and love of him, and may you go forward into the future confident that He is the one on whom you can always depend – even when the world is turned upside down, as it has been in 2020, God remains the same yesterday, today and forever.

Year 12 HSC Music

Congratulations to the Year 12 Music class who have completed their HSC performance exams. This is a culmination of almost two years of hard work and preparation.

LOCKER CLEAN OUT

At the end of this term all student lockers will be emptied and locked. Time will be given to assist students to place rubbish in bins and for Home Group teachers to ensure that the lockers are left empty and locked over the holiday period.

Nova Employment Step Program

Five RJ students from Years 10-12 were invited to take part in the NOVA Employment Step Program for 2020. This was the second year our School has partnered with NOVA Employment Services. The six-week program happened every Tuesday during Period 6. Eddie, from NOVA Employment South Windsor, took the students through various aspects of the workforce.

That is, please advise the School before Friday 9 October of your intentions (email admin@rjas.nsw.edu.au) to avoid a financial penalty.
