From the Principal
As part of my final 3 RJ Review articles I’ll provide 3 brief snapshots of the School’s 24 years’ journey. The first 8 years took us from 26 students (in 2 classes from Kind. to Year 4) and 3 staff in 1997 to 445 students (in 11 Primary classes and Secondary students up to Year 10) and 34 staff in 2004. The School commenced with students in casual clothes, as both the School Uniform and the P and F Association were yet to be inaugurated. These pioneering years involved composite Primary classes, teachers often taking on subjects and other tasks outside of their normal experiences, regular working bees to reduce maintenance costs as well as volunteers running the canteen and uniform shop. The Church building was utilised for Assemblies, portable facilities catered for administration and staff, library took place in temporary spaces until 2004, and there was an uncovered hardcourt for PE/Sport. People worked hard together, generously giving countless hours in voluntary service, otherwise our School would not have made it through that first stage of growth as successfully.
