
House Meetings replaced Primary Assembly in Week 1 and an Anzac Service yesterday from Secondary student visitors from the Oakhurst Campus replaced Primary Assembly in Week 2. In Term 2 we will be looking at the Psalms as the songs of God’s people. Kindergarten students will be presenting their first Assembly Items. KC will be presenting in Week 3, KP in Week 4 and KM in Week 5. Parents of the presenting class are invited to attend Primary Assemblies.
DA VINCI DECATHLON
Dua M will be combining with 7 students from the Oakhurst Campus to work collaboratively as a team to participate in the da Vinci Decathlon next Thursday 6 May via Zoom. Students complete academic challenges in 10 different disciplines including Engineering, Mathematics and Chess, Code Breaking, Art and Poetry, Science, English, Ideation, Creative Producers, Cartography and Legacy. We wish Dua and the team our best.
HAIRCUTS AND STYLES
Parents are asked to refer to the section in the School Uniform and Presentation Policy relating to Hair Management prior to having their child’s hair cut and styled. Clippers may not be below a Size 2 and there should be no significant change in length between the top and sides/bottom of the hair.

JUMP ROPE FOR HEART – JUMP OFF DAY
We had a fantastic day at our “Jump Off Day” on the last day of Term 1. The students enjoyed demonstrating their skills, as did the staff and parents who joined in at the end. It was great to have so many parents join us, having supported the fundraising of this event throughout the term. It was also wonderful that Jen from the Heart Foundation could attend, help judge the skipping and praise the students for their incredible skipping and fundraising effort.
MOTHERS’ DAY STALL
The Mothers’ Day Stall for mums or special people in their place will be held next Friday 7 May, (with opportunities on Tuesday 4 May and Thursday 6 May for students in Pre-Kindergarten who do not attend on Fridays). Gifts cost $5 or $10. Please send a $5 or $10 note (no coins please) if your child would like to participate. We thank Mrs Ghali in advance for her preparations to date to ensure a lovely selection of gifts are available for students to choose from and for the generous volunteer helpers on the day.
NAPLAN TESTING DATE UPDATE– YEARS 3 AND 5
NAPLAN testing will be held in Weeks 4 and 5 of this term. Students require personal headphones (earbuds are preferable) supplied from home. If your child does not already have headphones at school, please send them prior to 11 May. Please note the following NAPLAN testing dates:

- Friday 14 May – Conventions of Language
- Monday 17 May - Numeracy
PUBLIC SPEAKING FINALS
The Public Speaking Finals were held in the last week of Term 1. The students entertained their parent audience, speaking on a range of interesting and insightful topics, and displaying their enthusiasm and oral presentation skills. Thank you to Mrs McLeod for organising this event, the Secondary Vice Captains for adjudicating and classroom teachers and parents who helped to prepare the students.
RIVERSTONE FESTIVAL
RJ will be participating in the parade at the Riverstone Festival on Saturday 15 May. The Festival runs from 9:00am-3:00pm with a street parade at 11:00am involving RJ students. Students walking in the parade need to be at the Mill Street Reserve RJ marshalling area by 10:30am. The Festival includes stalls, carnival rides and stage performances. Come along and support our School by walking in the parade and enjoying this community event.
SCHOOL PHOTOS
School Photos for the Marsden Park Campus will be taken on Tuesday 18 May. All students (Pre-K to Year 6) are to wear their Winter Uniform on this day. Girls must wear the tunic and navy-blue tights, not socks. Hair is to be tied up with a small navy hair tie. Earrings must be as per the Uniform Policy – plain gold or silver stud or sleeper. Pre-Kindergarten children wear their long-sleeved RJ polo shirt, tracksuit pants and joggers. Further information relating to Uniform requirements is outlined below. SOCCER CLINICS
Soccer Clinics commence next week, Thursday 6 May and continue through to Thursday 17 June (excluding Thursday 3 June) for students who registered for these clinics. Please refer to the Registration note for further details. As a RJ staff member does not attend these clinics, it is essential parents collect children promptly at the appropriate Years 1-2 or Years 3-6 session finish time.
UNIFORM
From Week 4, Winter Uniform must be worn each day. Please refer to the School Uniform and Student Presentation Policy available on the School website https://www.rjas.nsw.edu.au/resources/general/ to ensure your child is in the correct Uniform.
K-6 students are required to wear their Primary Jacket to and from School each day. They continue to wear their hat all year round. RJ beanies are available at Lowes. They may be worn before and after school and during recess and lunch. No other beanies are to be worn. The beanie is an optional Uniform Item.
Pre-Kindergarten children wear the long sleeve polo shirt with the School tracksuit from Week 3 of Term 2. They may wear Summer or Winter Uniform in the first 2 weeks. For added warmth, parents may purchase the School jumper. No other items of clothing are to be worn (including skivvies or long sleeve shirts under the polo).
WSCS INTERSCHOOL SPORT
WSCS Term 2 Interschool sport trials were held in Week 1 with the competition commencing in Week 3 and continuing each Wednesday throughout the term. Mr Mitchell will organise students into an interschool sport team or school sport based on the trial feedback from staff. Students need to have a drink bottle and hat for sport each week.
YEAR 6 PRIMARY LEADER’S DAY
On Monday 10 May, Year 6 student leaders (Primary Captain and House Captains) from both Campuses will meet with Year 6 leaders across The Anglican Schools Corporation for the annual Year 6 Leaders Day. This event will be hosted by St Luke’s Grammar School in Dee Why. The students will have a great day interacting with other leaders, developing their leadership skills and exploring ways they can extend their leadership within our School.
ZONE CROSS COUNTRY
Zone Cross Country will be held next Monday 3 May. Mr Mitchell will advise via note those students who qualified at the School Cross Country. We wish students the best.
