We are so excited about having all of our students back with us over the next two weeks. Our teachers and admin staff are gearing up to welcome our students back from Monday 18 October while our maintenance team has been working hard to ensure our facilities at both Campuses are in top shape for their return. (Please check out the email sent to all RJ Families today about the staggered return).

SCHOOL RULES!

We have been physically separated for such a long time that it seems surreal actually thinking that we can meet again and resume some “normality” in School life! Obviously this comes with limitations and expectations, but ones that we are all more than capable of meeting.

One of the messages that has come repeatedly over the last week is showing patience and kindness. We will be expected to adhere to the Public Health Orders and sometimes this will present challenges, especially with mask wearing and social distancing in Secondary. As we work through the return to school landscape, please be patient, especially when regulations change unexpectedly.

Primary Matters

Mrs Karen Shannon-Duhigg, Head of Junior School

From the Head of Primary - Oakhurst

Term 4 has begun with the sense of hope and anticipation as we look ahead to the coming weeks when the girls and boys will be back onsite for face-to-face learning. From next week Monday 18 October Kindergarten and Year 1 will return to Campus. As you know our new Premier made changes to the ‘roadmap’ after we had sent out our family communications. Please see Mr Dawson’s email for clarification of RJ return to School dates.

From the Head of Primary - Marsden Park

Thank you to everyone who has warmly welcomed me to RJ so far. I was able to meet some of the students that are coming onsite as part our essential worker program. I was also pleased to be able to meet many parents on Friday afternoon when picking up the learning bundles. We have an excellent school and I look forward to continuing to develop connections with both parents and students.

Secondary Segments

Mrs Julia Scrimshaw, Head of Academics, Learning and Innovation (P-12)

From the Acting Head of Secondary

Term 4 is always hectic, and this year looks just as busy as any other year. Of course, the start of term has been very different with students still learning online, but I am sure we will breathe a collective sigh of relief that the end of distance learning will soon be coming to an end.

Mr Brad Maxwell - Head of Senior School

From the Director of Welfare

I am looking forward to having staff and students returning to the School for most of Term 4. It is exciting to think we can complete the year face-to-face after an extended period of time off campus. As students start moving away from the Distance Learning Program (DLP) and return to school it creates a great opportunity to both reflect and look forward.
