From the Principal

From the Principal

It has been lovely to see our students return to School over the last week and the sound of children playing in the schoolyard being music to our ears. As I’ve mentioned before in a letter to families, there is nothing quite like the sound of children being busy and noisy in the playground. We have missed it very much.

It was wonderful to see so many students back on Campus at Oakhurst and Marsden Park, operating in a COVID-safe way. The staggered departure works very smoothly in the afternoon at both Campuses, and it was encouraging to see all students aiming to be as co-operative as possible. Doors and windows have been kept open, as we need to facilitate ventilation, although it may get a little uncomfortable when the days are warmer. Students are encouraged to drink plenty of water and make sure they wear their hat outside in the playground.

Primary Matters

Mrs Karen Shannon-Duhigg, Head of Junior School

From the Head of Primary - Oakhurst

Last week brought the joyous sights and sounds of our youngest RJ members back onsite. I saw a number of students literally skip through the Dryden gate in anticipation of seeing their friends and teachers again. It was a joyous occasion marked with balloons and signs to welcome back Kindergarten and Year 1 students after lockdown. The teachers and I were amazed at how readily the children slipped back into School routines and we are hopeful for more of the same with Years 2-6 returning this week.

From the Head of Primary - Marsden Park

I was reminded recently about the promise of God’s unchanging nature – “I, the Lord, do not change” (Malachi 3:6). This verse helps us all as we prepare for a term that indicates many changes ahead.

Stage 2 Marsden Park Live Zoom Fun!

In our last week of live Zoom lessons, Stage 2 Marsden Park participated in hands-on volume and capacity experiments in our very own kitchens!

Secondary Segments

Mrs Julia Scrimshaw, Head of Academics, Learning and Innovation (P-12)

From the Acting Head of Secondary

It was wonderful to see our Secondary students return to school on Monday. RJ felt like it had been rejuvenated, and everything was as it should be. A school without students and staff is just a building, and here at RJ, we are glad that normality is returning to our school community. Our new normal is somewhat different to our previous experiences, but we are working hard to ensure that the rest of term 4 provides learning experiences that will prepare students for a new year of learning in 2022.

Mr Brad Maxwell - Head of Senior School

From the Director of Welfare

It has been great to have students back on school grounds this week. A special welcome to the eight Secondary students who have joined us at the Oakhurst Campus in Week 4. The energy and vibrancy is something that cannot be achieved or replicated online.
