From the Principal
Our Year 12 students are getting ready to complete their final week of school after their 13 years of formal schooling draws to an end. It is these final moments that matter most as they stand on the precipice of that next exciting chapter in their lives.
‘What we do in life echoes in eternity”, is one of my favourite quotes by the character Maximus from the movie Gladiator. It reminds us that our actions matter and have future consequences. That our thoughts matter. That our choices matter. That our words matter.
As our Year 12 prepare for the HSC exams, we pray they will take this final opportunity to give it their best shot, back themselves and make every moment count! And we remind them of the words of the Apostle Paul, "I can do all these things through the power of the one who gives me strength." Philippians 4:13
In reflecting on the quote above, I was reminded that it was only four weeks ago that we were commenting on how wonderful it was for our Primary students to have received a letter from the Queen. Then last Friday we heard of the news of her passing.
What a distinguished leader Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was, giving 70 years of service and duty to her country and the Commonwealth realm. Her sense of calm and constancy was a great role model to us all, as was her life of genuine faith in God. Whether you are a fan of the Monarchy or not, it is always prudent to give honour to those whom honour is due, and therefore flags continue to fly at half-mast across our campuses.
Last Wednesday evening we had over 120 RJ Alumni attend a celebration event to honour the investment of Mrs Jenny Clay, our Deputy Principal, as we reflected on all that she has brought to and done for our School over the last 21 years. It was great to reconnect with our past students from as far back as 1997 and reminisce special moments during their time at school. The stories shared were wonderfully coloured by perspectives of teenagers past with delightfully impressive comments on how much the School had changed yet felt the same.
Tonight is opening night of our Primary Musical, The Lion King Jnr, featuring students from both our Marsden Park and Oakhurst campuses. There has been copious amounts of work that has gone into this simply stunning production from the costumes to sets, from the singing to the choreography. If you haven’t bought your ticket to see the show, there just might be a last minute opportunity for you to be there to experience this world of wonder… Tonight and tomorrow night’s shows both begin at 6:40pm with some student music ensemble entertainment to get us into that Hakuna Matata mood!
We also encourage you to come to the RJ Spring Festival on Saturday from 9:00am held at the Oakhurst Campus. There are many activities available on the day to entertain your family.
Don’t miss out on these above two special events!
On a different note, please refer to the new parking arrangements for the Oakhurst Campus effective Term 4 listed in the Announcement section and note the expectations accordingly.
God Bless,
Mr Alan Dawson | Principal
