On Friday 5 May, RJ opened up its doors to the local community to celebrate 20 incredible years of Christian Education in the heart of Westen Sydney.
Blues and whites filled the Primary Courtyard as we proudly celebrated the School's achievements and thanked God for all He has blessed RJ with over the past 20 years.
The attending guests were made up of current/past parents and students, local politicians, local ministers and our very special guest, The Most Rev. Dr Glenn Davies, The Archbishop of Sydney.
Rev. Glenn Davies spoke from the very same Bible passage that Rev. Richard Johnson, our School's namesake, spoke from at the very first Christian church service in 1788. It had a wonderful response from our guests, many of whom commented afterwards on how impacting and inspiring the sermon was.
"What shall I render to the Lord for all his benefits to me? I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the Lord." Psalm 116:12-13
The Celebration Service was full of much excitement and engagement, with wonderful performances from both our Primary and Secondary students. Alumni student Ester Gaolo sang the first two verses of "I am Australian", accompanied by our Primary students. Many learnt the history of RJ itself, with its humble beginnings in 1997 and its growth from then to today, with now two wonderful Campuses and over 930 students.
Rev. Glenn Davies officially opened our new buildings, unveiling the new plaque. A celebratory cake was cut by our School Captains and we finished off the morning with RJ's version of "We're Having a Birthday!" with fantastic performances from our Primary and Secondary students.
It was a wonderful and historic event to witness on Friday morning. We are truly thankful to God for all He has provided us with over the past 20 years. It is thanks to His provision, love and guidance that RJ has grown to become a place to belong and succeed.
